Sunlight can charge and energize crystals, but not all stones respond well to direct sun exposure. Here is what you need to know:
Sun-safe stones. Citrine, carnelian, tiger's eye, clear quartz, and hematite can handle direct sunlight for short periods (1–2 hours). These stones thrive on solar energy and absorb it safely.
Sun-sensitive stones. Amethyst will fade from deep purple to pale gray under prolonged sun exposure. Rose quartz loses its pink color. Turquoise, lapis lazuli, and aquamarine can become brittle or discolored. Never leave these stones in direct sunlight for more than a few minutes.
Best practice for charging. Place sun-safe stones on a windowsill that receives morning sunlight (gentler than afternoon rays) for 1–2 hours. For sensitive stones, use indirect sunlight through a sheer curtain or charge them instead under the full moon.
Solstice-specific charging. On the summer solstice, the sunlight is at its most powerful and energetic. Place your citrine, carnelian, or tiger's eye bracelet in direct sunlight between 10 AM and 2 PM on solstice day for a concentrated annual energy boost.
